Diese Rezeptur wirkt in erster Linie auf den zellulären Stoffwechsel, indem die Fähigkeit gestärkt wird, sich mit inneren und äußeren Einflüssen regulativ auseinanderzusetzen.
Im Alter und nach lang dauernden Beanspruchungen nimmt diese Fähigkeit ab und es kommt zu Ablagerungen wie z.B. Oxydantien oder pathogenen Eiweissen wie bei Alzheimer, die ihrerseits widerum weiter den zellulären Stoffwechsel schädigen. Auf diese Weise entgleisen wesentliche Teile des Stoffwechsels und es bilden sich Krankheiten heraus wie Diabetes Typ2, Hypertonie, auto- oder hyperimmunologische Entzündungen. Die pathogenen Eiweisse lösen Entzündungen hervor und verdrängen gesundes Gewebe. (z.B. Rheuma, Alzheimer, Fettleber).
Dieser degenerative Prozess wirkt sich besonders stark an empfindlichen Zellverbänden aus. Zu diesen zählen in erster Linie die Nerven und Hormondrüsen. Deren regulative Funktionen schwächen sich mehr und mehr ab.

Liu wei di huang tang wirkt auf eine Vielzahl von degenerativen Krankheiten, deren Gemeinsamkeit die beschriebene Abschwächung der zellulären, nervalen und hormonellen Regulation darstellt. Die Rezeptur ist in erster Linie ein wirksames Mittel bei Diabetes, Hypertonie und Demenz.
Darüber hinaus kann sie die gesunde Lebensspanne verlängern, auch wenn diese Krankheiten nicht auftreten.

   1.1. Diabetes Typ2

As the age of the rats increased, the pancreatic islets in the control group gradually showed fibrosis and islet atrophy, which were not found in Liuwei group. The rats in Liuwei group developed diabetes since 30 weeks of age and the incidence was 28.6% at 40 weeks, significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.01).

OLETF rats had obviously greater amount of visceral fat than LETO rats (P<0.05) and administration of LP ameliorated the increment of visceral fat deposition in this type 2 diabetic model, producing significant effect at the age of 40 weeks (P<0.01). LP may effectively decrease visceral fat deposition in OLETF rats.

Twenty-seven patients with MG were enrolled, who were relapse cases after treated by cholinesterase inhibitor with systemic glucocorticoid treatment and showed resistance to glucocorticoid. These results indicate that LW improves the synaptic plasticity by inhibiting voltage-dependent calciumchannels (VDCCs) and promoting the function of NMDA receptors. This improvement might be one of the mechanisms contributing to cognitive improvement effect of LW.

Nach der 5-Elementeanalyse auf der Grundlage der TCM-Quellen wirkt das Mittel in erster Linie auf den Funktionskreis der Niere indem unkontrollierter Säfteverlust (Xue-4 – Durst- und Verlustsyndrom) beendet wird. (Nachtschweiss, Nykturie, Spermatorrhoe). Diese Symptome entsprechen denen eines manifesten Diabetes Typ2.
