  1. Metabolisches Syndrom

Effect of soy on metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk factors: a randomized controlled trial.

Soy nutritional intervention resulted in a reduction in the number of MetS features in 13/26 subjects. Moreover, in the soy group we observed a significant improvement of median percentage changes for body weight (-1.5 %) and BMI (-1.5 %), as well as for atherogenic lipid markers, namely TC (-4.85 %), LDL-C (-5.25 %), non-HDL-C (-7.14 %) and apoB (-14.8 %). Since the majority of the studied variables were strongly correlated, three factors were identified which explained the majority (52 %) of the total variance in the whole data set. Among them, factor 1, which loaded lipid and adipose variables, explained the 22 % of total variance, showing a statistically significant difference between treatment arms (p = 0.002).

1.1.    Adipositas

Protective and curative effects of Bacillus subtilis SPB1 biosurfactant on high-fat-high-fructose diet induced hyperlipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia and deterioration of liver function in rats.

Whereas, the administration of Bacillus subtilis SPB1 biosurfactant to HFFD improved the body weight gain and serum lipids profile and reverted back near normal the activities of lipase and liver toxicity indicators. In addition, notable protective and curative effects were reported in liver tissues. Overall, these results suggest that the lipopeptides biosynthesized by Bacillus subtilis SPB1 achieved an anti-obesity effect through the inhibition of lipid digestive and liver dysfunction enzymes.

1-Deoxynojirimycin isolated from a Bacillus subtilis stimulates adiponectin and GLUT4 expressions in 3T3-L1 adipocytes.

Our findings indicate that DNJ may greatly facilitate glucose uptake into adipose tissues by increasing the action of adiponectin via its up-regulated expression as well as its receptor genes.

1.2.    Hypercholesterinämie

Effects of Bacillus subtilis var. natto and Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermented liquid feed on growth performance, relative organ weight, intestinal microflora, and organ antioxidant status in Landes geese

In conclusion, the results indicated that feeding geese with BAC and SAC mix FLF can improve growth and feed intake, modulate the intestine ecology, and decrease the blood cholesterol concentrations; it also can improve the antioxidative status of organs and breast muscle.

       – Inhibitory effect of natto, a kind of fermented soybeans, on LDL oxidation in vitro

Effect of γ-aminobutyric acid and nattokinase-enriched fermented beans on the blood pressure of spontaneously hypertensive and normotensive Wistar–Kyoto rats

The greatest antihypertensive effect was observed when the pharmacological treatment was administered. The effect of the daily intake of fermented beans containing GABA and nattokinase may be helpful in controlling blood pressure levels in hypertensive model animals. The fermentation of beans with B. subtilis B060 may therefore constitute a successful strategy for producing a functional food with antihypertensive activity.

Antihypertensive Effects of Continuous Oral Administration of Nattokinase and Its Fragments in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats

These results suggest that nattokinase and its fragments are different from each other in the mechanism to reduce hypertension. Nattokinase, retained its protease activity after absorbance across the intestines, may decrease blood pressure through cleavage of fibrinogen in plasma. The fragments, which absorbed as nattokinase-degradation products, prevents the elevation of plasma angiotensin II level to suppress hypertension.

1.4.    Diabetes

Effect of Intake of Natto and Soybeans on Postprandial Blood Glucose Levels in Healthy Adults

After both the soybean and natto meals, the blood glucose level at 60 minutes after intake was significantly lower than after the control meal. However, only the natto meal, and not the soybean meal, significantly suppressed the rise in blood glucose level at 60 minutes compared to the control meal. Furthermore, the area under the glucose curve from 0 to 120 min after the natto meal was significantly smaller than for the control meal. These results suggest that natto is useful for the control of postprandial blood glucose level.

Consumption of soy foods and isoflavones and risk of type 2 diabetes: a pooled analysis of three US cohorts.

Intake of isoflavones was associated with a modestly lower T2D risk in US men and women who typically consumed low-to-moderate amounts of soy foods. These findings warrant replications in other populations with similar soy intake levels.

  1. Thrombosen  –  Effects of Bacillus subtilis var. natto products on symptoms caused by blood flow disturbance in female patients with lifestyle diseases. The significant improvement in the symptoms secondary to blood flow disturbance was caused by the improvement in blood flow by NKCP(®).  –  Nattokinase decreases plasma levels of fibrinogen, factor VII, and factor VIII in human subjectsAfter 2 months of administration, fibrinogen, factor VII, and factor VIII decreased 9%, 14%, and 17%, respectively, for the Healthy Group; 7%, 13%, and 19%, respectively, for the Cardiovascular Group; and 10%, 7%, and 19%, respectively, for the Dialysis Group, whereas blood lipids were unaffected by nattokinase. 1. Antiaging

–  Dietary and microbiome factors determine longevity in Caenorhabditis elegans

Feeding the gram positive B. subtilis to C. elegans instead of the gram negative standard laboratory diet E. coli considerably increases worm longevity [14,17,19,21]. To understand the nature of this life span increase we first examined whether it is B. subtilis strain-specific. We fed worms three different WT strains of B. subtilis (PY79, 3610, and 168) and compared their longevity to worms fed the standard E. coli OP50. Worms fed any of the B. subtilis strains lived longer (43%-58%) than E. coli fed worms (Figure (Figure1A),1A), thus feeding B. subtilis to worms extends their life span independently of the B. subtilis strain used.

Natto (fermented soybean) extract extends the adult lifespan of Caenorhabditis elegans.

The water extract significantly prolonged the adult lifespan of the wild-type worms and rendered them resistant to oxidative and thermal stress. In addition, treatment with natto extract significantly delayed the accumulation of lipofuscin, a characteristic of aging cells. Our findings suggest that components of natto have a beneficial anti-aging effect in vivo.

Microbial flora, probiotics, Bacillus subtilis and the search for a long and healthy human longevity

We found that biofilm-proficient B. subtilis colonized the C. elegans gut and extended the worm lifespan significantly longer than did biofilm-deficient isogenic strains. In addition to biofilm proficiency, the quorum-sensing pentapeptide CSF and nitric oxide (NO) represent the entire B. subtilis repertoire responsible for the extended longevity of C. elegans. B. subtilis grown under biofilm-supporting conditions synthesized higher levels of NO and CSF than under planktonic growth conditions, emphasizing the key role of the biofilm in slowing host aging. Significantly, the prolongevity effect of B. subtilis was primarily due to a downregulation of the insulin-like signaling system that precisely is a key partaker in the healthy longevity of human centenarians. These findings open the possibility to test if the regular consumption of B. subtilis incorporated in foods and beverages could significantly extend human life expectancy and contribute to stop the development of age-related diseases

What Can Nattokinase Do for Me?

  1. Lower Blood Pressure

Nattokinase thins the blood and dissolves accumulated solids in it. Consequently blood pressure is lowered.

2. Reduce Pain

Because of its anti-inflammatory effects, nattokinase has been used to help with pain from arthritis, including that of rheumatoid arthritis. Women with painful periods, especially if the pain is caused by fibroids or endometriosis, may find that their pain is reduced with a nattokinase supplement.

3. Dissolve Clots

Because nattokinase is an enzyme, it can dissolve proteins like fibrin, which are a cause of clots and blockages in the blood in the first place.

4. Facilitate Brain Function

Because nattokinase thins and cleans up the blood the resulting improved circulation improves oxygenation to the brain. This can reduce brain fog and may lower the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

5. Assist Vision

Nattokinase have been used to treat cataracts and eye floaters because of its ability to dissolve proteins and fibers that are the cause of these eye issues.

6. Increase Fertility

Fibroids and endometriosis are both chronic and painful conditions that can cause infertility.  Nattokinase can be used in these conditions to help dissolve the fibroids and endometriosis.

7. Improve Libido

Because nattokinase improves circulation as it thins bloods and breaks up congestion, it is helpful for low libido in men, especially when the low libido is caused by poor circulation.

8. Eliminate Migraines

Migraines can have many causes. For those whose migraines are caused by thick blood and poor circulation, regular use of nattokinase can solve the root cause of migraines.

9. Relieve Edema

A common theme edema is poor circulation. Because nattokinase improves circulation, a benefit of nattokinase is a reduction in edema. Clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) can also cause edema. Nattokinase addresses this cause of edema as well.

10. Heal Varicose Veins

The blood thinning and oxygenating properties of nattokinase make it an appropriate remedy for varicose veins. Hemorrhoid sufferers will be glad to know that nattokinse works for hemorrhoids as well since hemorrhoids are a type of varicose vein.

The steaming process slightly decreased spermidine in soybeans, and the subsequent fermentation process resulted in 41.1% increase of spermidine and 19.4% reduction of spermine compared with those of steamed soybeans.

Effect of Bacillus subtilis natto on growth performance in Muscovy ducks

Weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion efficiency of Muscovy ducks were significantly improved by the dietary addition of Bacillus subtilis natto, and the results were more significant in 0.4% dietary Bacillus subtilis natto treatment group; Also, Bacillus subtilis natto reduced Escherichia coli and Salmonella colonies, and increased lactobacilli population in the ileum and the cecum. Biochemical parameters, including total protein, GOT (glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase), GPT (glutamic pyruvic transaminase), AKP (alkaline phosphatase), triiodothyronine (T3) and tetraiodothyronine (T4) contents (p<0.05) in the serum of Muscovy ducks were significantly improved (p<0.01), while urea nitrogen, glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol concentrations decreased when Bacillus subtilis natto was added to the diets (p<0.05), and improved duodenum and immune functions.

The results of the present study indicate that diets with 0.4% Bacillus subtilis natto improved the growth performance of Muscovy ducks by increasing the absorption of protein, simulating hormone secretion, suppressing harmful microflora, and improving the duodenal structure and immune functions of Muscovy ducks. It is suggested that Bacillus subtilis natto is a potential candidate to be used use as a probiotic to improve the growth performance of Muscovy ducks.

Herstellung von Natto

Zutaten

–          Getrocknete Sojabohnen
–          Natto-Starter

Am besten sind getrocknete schwarze Sojabohnen. Diese gibt’s in japanischen Supermärkten, z.B. Hanaromarkt, Friedrich-Ebertstr. 20, Düsseldorf und kostet das kg 3,60 €. Man auch die normalen gelben Sojabohnen verwenden. Die Nattosporen (Natto-Starter) gibt’s hier: https://www.nattostarter.com/nattostarter.php

Zubereitung
