1.  Testosteronmangel

[Cynomorium songaricum improves sperm count and motility and serum testosterone level and promotes proliferation of undifferentiated spermatogonia in oligoasthenospermia rats].

CS can significantly improve sperm concentration, sperm motility and serum T level in OAS rats, probably by inducing the expression of GDNF in the rat Sertoli cells, promoting the proliferation of undifferentiated spermatogonial cells, and enhancing spermatogenesis.

2. Sexualhormonmangel

Our data demonstrates that compounds from CS exhibit phytoestrogenic and phytoandrogenic activities, which may contribute to inhibiting the oestrogen/androgen-induced BPH development.

There were a dose-dependent effects of the CS on the sexual function. These results suggest that the CS extract promotes the male fertility by strengthening the spermatogenesis in the golden hamsters.

Effect of cynomorium songarium rupr on testosterone content, substance metabolism and anti-fatigue capacity of rats after exercise training

The results showed that exhaustive swimming time of C.songarium group was longer than that of motion control group (T group) (P<0.01).The content of serum testosterone of C.songarium group was higher than that of T group (P<0.01),but serum corticosterone was lower than that of the T group (P<0.05).The changes of content of serum testosterone were consistent with the changes of ratio of serum testosterone and corticosterone among different groups. The liver glycogen (P<0.05),muscle glycogen (P<0.01) and hemoglobin (P<0.05) in C.Songarium group were higher than these in T group, but the serum urea nitrogen were lower than the T group (P<0.05).The experimental results showed that the variances of testosterone and corticosterone content in serum caused by high-intensity exercise can be alleviated by C.songarium supplement to maintain the serum at normal physiological level. At the same time, C.songarium can promote protein synthesis, inhibit the decomposition of amino acids and proteins, increase the hemoglobin content and glycogen reserves.Hence,it showed the potential of anti-fatigue capability with multi-target,multi-channel features.

3.    Klimakterische Depression

Effect of Cynomorium total flavone on depression model of perimenopausal rat.

Cynomorium total flavone can adjust hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis by increasing E2, and make related biomedical indexes and hormone receptors tend to be normal, so as to relieve perimenopausal syndrome and perimenopausal syndrome with depression.

4.    Krebs

Anticancer Activity of Cynomorium coccineum.

The treatment prolonged mouse survival significantly. The tumors grew at a slower rate than the control. Down-regulation of c-myc expression appeared to be associated with these effects. Further investigation showed that treatment with C. coccineum induced the overexpression of the tumor suppressor Foxo3 and other molecules involved in inducing autophagy. These results showed that the C. coccineum extract exerts its antiproliferative activity through the induction of cell death pathway. Thus, the Cynomorium plants appear to be a promising source of new antineoplastic compounds.

4.1. Bronchialkrebs

[Effect of Cynomorium songaricum polysaccharide on telomere of lung cancer A549 cells].

. In conclusion, CSRP has the anti-cancer effect, and the action mechanism may be associated with inhibiting TERT mRNA expression, shortening telomere length, inhibiting cells proliferation and promoting cells apoptosis.

5.   H2O2 Schäden

A polysaccharide isolated from Cynomorium songaricum Rupr. protects PC12 cells against H2O2-induced injury.

The results show that, the CSP can significantly protect PC12 cells against H2O2-induced oxidative stress, increase the intracellular antioxidase system load and inhibit H2O2-induced apoptosis by scavenging of ROS, regulating cell cycle, preventing DNA damage and protecting the cell membrane. This research would be benefit for preventing and curing the oxidation-related diseases in polysaccharide study.

6.  Androgener Haarausfall

Inhibitory activities of some traditional Chinese herbs against testosterone 5α-reductase and effects of Cacumen platycladi on hair re-growth in testosterone-treated mice.

GL-ext, PM-ext, CP-ext and CS-ext showed strong 5αR inhibitory activity. CP-ext possesses high hair growth promoting activity in the in vivo androgen-sensitive mouse model via inhibiting the 5αR activity, decreasing the DHT levels and in turn suppressing the expression of 5αR. Our study may contribute to the development of a new generation of herbal supplements with clearer material basis of pharmacodynamic for treating androgenic alopecia (AGA).

7.    Spermienmangel

There were a dose-dependent effects of the CS on the sexual function. These results suggest that the CS extract promotes the male fertility by strengthening the spermatogenesis in the golden hamsters.

The CS-treated animals showed significant increases in epididymal sperm count and absolute testes weights compared to the control group. CS also increased the expression of GDNF at both the mRNA and protein levels. These results suggest that CS may improve male fertility by enhancing spermatogenesis and GDNF expression.

8.  Muskuläre Müdigkeit

Furthermore, the average body weight and the total swimming time were increased by 3.1%, 8.8%, 10.6%, and 7.7%, 34.5%, 61.5%, respectively. Our experimental results suggest that flavonoid supplementation could not only reduce free radical formation and scavenge free radicals, but also enhance endurance exercise performance by reducing muscle fatigue.

The effect of Cynomorium songaricum Rupr on endurance and antioxidative status of skeletal muscle in trained mice [J]

The effect of Cynomorium songaricum Rupr(CSR) on endurance and antioxidative status is studied in swimming trained mice.30 Kunming mice are randomly divided into 2 groups:swimming group(Ⅰ) and swimming+CSR group(Ⅱ).The results show that the average swimming duration of group(Ⅱ) is longer than that of group(Ⅰ)(P0.01),and the ratio of blood lactic acid and MDA to swimming duration in group(Ⅱ) is significantly lower than group(Ⅰ)(P0.05),the activity of SOD and GSH-Px in skeletal muscle is markedly increased(P0.05) in group(Ⅱ).The study indicates that the CSR could improve physical endurance and antioxidative status in mice.

9.    Alterung

CSP can exert the anti-aging effects by increase telomere length f senescence mice.

CSP can exert the anti-aging effects by promoting the process of transcription, prolonging the telomere length, and increasing the activity of senescence mice. The research on mechanism of telomerase regulate the effect of CSP of anti-senescence will provide some evidence for CSP to applying in the clinical to prolong life-span.

Here, we show that CS supplementation in the diet extends both the mean and maximum lifespan of adult female flies. The increase in lifespan with CS was correlated with higher resistance to oxidative stress and starvation and lower lipid hydroperoxides (LPO) levels. Additionally, the lifespan extension was accompanied by beneficial effects, such as improved mating readiness, increased fecundity, and suppression of age-related learning impairment in aged flies. These findings demonstrate the important antiaging effects of CS and indicate the potential applicability of dietary intervention with CS to enhance health and prevent multiple age-related diseases.

10. Gedächtnisschwäche

[Effect of improving memory and inhibiting acetylcholinesterase activity by invigorating-qi and warming-yang recipe].

The results showed that IQ, WY and IQWY had an evident antagonistic action to Scopolamine induced dysmnesia mice, and could improve their memory. The erroneous times of the animal’s reaction in Group I, II and III were less than those in Group IV, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01. Acetylcholinesterase (AchE) activity in the mice could be inhibited by IQ, WY and IQWY also. The activity in Group I, II and III was less than that in Group IV and V, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01. The therapeutic mechanism of IQWY was in connection with its effect to M-cholinergic transmitters of central nervous system.

11. Osteoporose

Antiosteoporotic activity of the water extract of Dioscorea spongiosa.

The results indicated that the water extract of D. spongiosa not only showed the strongest stimulation of osteoblast proliferation but also possessed potent inhibitory activity aganist osteoclast formation, whereas it showed lower cytotoxicity in osteoblast and bone marrow cells. A further in vivo experiment determined the antiosteoporotic activity of this extract, in which it inhibited the decrease in cancellous bone mineral content, cancellous bone mineral density, and cortical bone mineral content of the proximal tibia in ovariectomized rats.

12. Diabetes

Structural features and hypoglycaemic effects of Cynomorium songaricum polysaccharides on STZ-induced rats

Pharmaceutical experiments showed that the administration of CSPA could significantly decrease blood glucose levels, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, glutamic pyruvic transaminase, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine activities, and effectively increase serum insulin level and the content of liver glycogen in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Histopathology studies showed that the reduced islet cells were restored to near normal upon treatment with CSPA. The results suggest CSPA could be considered as a potential candidate for developing a new anti-diabetic agent.

13. Adipositas

The results showed that HCY2 co-treatment significantly reduced the body weight gain and white fat pads in HFD-fed mice. The weight reduction effect of HCY2 was associated with the induction of mitochondrial uncoupling in skeletal muscle, amelioration of HFD-induced hyperglycaemia and impairment in glucose tolerance as well as dyslipidaemia and fatty liver in HFD-fed mice. It is likely that HCY2 reduces body weight by increasing energy expenditure, presumably via mitochondrial uncoupling in skeletal muscle. HCY2 may therefore offer a promising prospect in preventing obesity and the associated metabolic syndrome and health consequences.

Biochemical mechanisms of the anti-obesity effect of a triterpenoid-enriched extract of Cynomorium songaricum in mice with high-fat-diet-induced obesity

The current study revealed that the weight reduction produced by HCY2 is associated with the activation of the AMPK signaling pathway, with resultant increases in mitochondrial biogenesis and expression of uncoupling protein 3 in skeletal muscle in vivo. The use of a recoupler, ketocholestanol, delineated the precise role of mitochondrial uncoupling in the anti-obesity effect afforded by HCY2 in obese mice.

14. Candida

Antifungal activity of extracts from Cynomorium coccineum growing wild in Sardinia island (Italy)

More than 60% of filamentation was inhibited at a concentration of 1/4 MIC. These results are preliminary and further studies are needed to an eventual use of C. coccineum methanolic extract in the treatments of candidiasis and cryptococcosis.

15. Prostatahypertrophie

Cynomorium songaricum Rupr demonstrates phytoestrogenic or phytoandrogenic like activities that attenuates benign prostatic hyperplasia via regulating steroid 5-α …

Treatment with CS significantly inhibited rat prostate enlargement, improved the pathological feature and reduced the thickness of smooth muscle layer. The up-regulated AR and ERα expressions and down-regulated ERβ in BPH rat prostate were significantly blocked after CS administration. Moreover, the enhanced values of E2/testosterone and the level of DHT in serum were also strongly inhibited in CS group compared with those in BPH groups. In cellular level, LUT, GA, PA, or Pra significantly inhibited DHT- or E2- induced BPH-1 cell proliferation and PCNA expressions. Consistently with the data in vivo, compounds from CS interfered the DHT or E2-regulated AR, ERα and ERβ expressions in BPH-1 cells as well. Importantly, the dramatic increased SRD5A1 and SRD5A2 expressions were observed in BPH rat prostates and DHT or E2-stimulated BPH-1 cells. However, treatment with CS in rat or with compounds isolated from CS in BPH-1 cells significantly blocked the induction of SRD5A1 and SRD5A2.

16. Stress

Comparative study on anti-stress effect of different extracts from Cynomorium songaricum

The Cynomorium songaricum possesses stronger anti-stress effect.Aqueous extracts can enhance the capacity of antifatigue and anti-hypothermia,the machnism of its action may be related to the decrease of ratio of cAMP/cGMP as well as to the increase of content of cAMP.The 95% alcoholic extract can enhance the capacity of anti-hyperthermia.

17. HIV

Structure and antiviral activity of water-soluble polysaccharides in Ulaan Goyo (Cynomorium songaricum Rupr.) plant

These results suggest that the sulfated polysaccharides gave strong interaction to poly-L-lysine and the interaction should be the reason why sulfated polysaccharides (SCSP-M, SCSP-1 and SCSP-2) had strong anti-HIV activity.

18. Unfruchtbarkeit
