Ginkgo – YIN XING YE – Ginkgoblätter

Dosis:  15-25 g/Tag

  1. Arteriosklerose

Inhibitory effect of Ginkgo biloba extract on hyperhomocysteinemia-induced intimal thickening in rabbit abdominal aorta after balloon injury

It suggests that GBE can reverse the Hhcy-induced neointima formation in rabbits following balloon injury, and the suppressive effect of GBE on the migration and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) may contribute to its actions.

2.1.    Parkinson

Neuroprotective effect of Ginkgo biloba L. extract in a rat model of Parkinson’s disease

These data suggest that the neuroprotective effects of EGb 761 reduce the behavioural deficit in 6-OHDA lesions in rat and also indicates a possible role for the extract in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

2.2.    Demenz

Efficacy of Ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761® in dementia with behavioural and psychological symptoms: A systematic review.

The pooled analyses provide evidence of efficacy of EGb 761® at a daily dose of 240 mg in the treatment of out-patients suffering from Alzheimer’s, vascular or mixed dementia with BPSD.

  1. Krebs

3.1.    Magenkrebs

The effect of EGB on proliferation of gastric carcinoma SGC7901 cells

EGB conferred an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of gastric carcinoma SGC7901 cells both in vitro and in vivo. The inhibitory effect was dose dependent and possibly depended on inhibiting cell cycle through G1 arrest induction by suppressing cyclin D1 and c-myc expression.

3.2.    Brustkrebs

Inhibitory Aromatase Effects of Flavonoids from Ginkgo Biloba Extracts on Estrogen Biosynthesis

The present study demonstrated that three flavonoids synergistically inhibit estrogen biosynthesis through aromatase inhibition, decrease CYP19 mRNA, and induce transcriptional suppression. Our results support the usefulness of flavonoids in adjuvant therapy for breast cancer by reducing estrogen levels with reduced adverse effects due to estrogen depletion.

3.3.    Pankreaskrebs

Ginkgolic acid suppresses the development of pancreatic cancer by inhibiting pathways driving lipogenesis

Moreover, the in vivo experiment showed that GA reduced the expression of the key enzymes involved in lipogenesis and restrained the tumor growth. Taken together, our results suggest that GA may serve as a new candidate against tumor growth of pancreatic cancer partially through targeting pathway driving lipogenesis.

3.4.    Melanom

Apoptosis Induced by Ginkgo biloba (EGb761) in Melanoma Cells Is Mcl-1-Dependent

Taken together, these results demonstrate that EGb761 kills melanoma cells through the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway, and that Mcl-1 is a major regulator of sensitivity of melanoma cells to apoptosis induced by EGb761. Therefore, EGb761 with or without in combination with targeting Mcl-1 may be a useful strategy in the treatment of melanoma.

  1.     Östrogendominanz

  1.     Adipositas

Ginkgolide C Suppresses Adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 Adipocytes via the AMPK Signaling Pathway

Ginkgolide C significantly suppressed lipid accumulation in differentiated adipocytes. The results suggest that ginkgolide C is an effective flavone for increasing lipolysis and inhibiting adipogenesis in adipocytes through the activated AMPK pathway.

  1. Hautfalten

In vitro antioxidant, collagenase inhibition, and in vivo anti-wrinkle effects of combined formulation containing Punica granatum, Ginkgo biloba, Ficus carica, and Morus alba fruits extract

The data also showed a dose-dependent inhibition of collagenase. In the in vivo study, treatment with 2% formulated cream for 56 days significantly reduced the percentage of wrinkle depth, length, and area with 11.5, 10.07, and 29.55, respectively.

  1. Immunschwäche Lymphocyten

Ginkgo biloba extract enhances the immune function of spleen and thymus in SD rats

GBE plays a regulatory role in immune function of the rat by increasing the mass of immune organs, increasing the number of mature T lymphocytes as well as their proliferative responses, and enhancing the phagocytic capacity of peritoneal macrophages.

  1. Arthrose

Importantly, TNF-α-induced degradation of collagen type II was ameliorated by EGb761 in a dose-dependent manner. Mechanistically, our results indicated that EGb761 treatment attenuated TNF-α-induced NF-κB activation. These actions of EGb761 suggest a mechanism by which EGb761 may act to prevent cartilage breakdown in arthritis.

The results imply that EGb protects against chondrocyte degeneration by inhibiting JNK activation and inducing ubiquitination-dependent c-Jun degradation. Although additional research is needed, our results suggest that EGb is a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of OA.

  1. Entzündungen

Inhibitory effects of EGb761 on the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and cartilage matrix destruction

Collagen type II, the basis for articular cartilage, can be degraded by MMP-1, MMP-3, and 13. EGb761, the standardized extract of Ginkgo biloba produced by Dr. Willar Schwabe Pharmaceuticals, has shown its anti-inflammatory capacity. This study aimed to determine a mechanism whereby EGb761 may inhibit cartilage degradation.

  1. ADHD

Ginkgo biloba in the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children and adolescents. A randomized, placebo-controlled, trial

The G. biloba is an effective complementary treatment for ADHD. Further studies with longer treatment duration are warranted in this regard.

  1. Libidomangel

Triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial of Ginkgo biloba extract on sexual desire in postmenopausal women in Tehran

The sexual desire was significantly improved in the GBE group compared to the placebo group. In this study, we found that GBE had a positive effect on sexual desire of menopausal women; thus, these findings support the positive effect of GBE on the sexual function of menopausal women.

  1. Psychiatrische Krankheiten

Furthermore, we discuss the therapeutic effects of EGb 761 both in animal models of psychiatric disorders and in clinical studies that include these pathologies. We focus on depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia, as well as the therapeutic action of EGb 761 on dementia in comorbidity with psychiatric disorders. In the current review, we propose thef potential use of EGb 761, alone or combined with current medication treatment, for psychiatric disorders.

Ginkgo as an add-on therapy to antipsychotic medication produced statistically significant moderate improvement (SMD=-0.50) in total and negative symptoms of chronic schizophrenia. Ginkgo as add-on therapy ameliorates the symptoms of chronic schizophrenia. The role of antioxidants in pathogenesis of schizophrenia has also been explored.

  1. Graue Haare

Induction of superoxide dismutase and catalase activity in different rat tissues and protection from UVB irradiation after topical application of Ginkgo biloba extracts

Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) prepared from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba with 50% diluted alcohol was found to locally induce superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzyme activity in epidermis after topical application, and also to systemically increase the activity of both enzymes in the liver, heart and kidney of Sprague Dawley rats. Skin pretreated with 50% diluted alcohol-extracted liquid formulation was protected from exacerbation of UVB damage.
